I’ve always had fun designing bedroom spaces for the kiddos and this one is no exception! Monika Hibbs, one of my favorite designers, creates some of the cutest bedrooms.
She’s also a big fan of Serena & Lily and incorporates a lot of our products into her designs. Just take a look at a few of my favorites …
I love how she plays with pattern and texture throughout all of her designs. Each space is whimsical, bright and happy. I definitely channeled Monika when designing this bedroom. Most of the products are from Serena & Lily’s newest collection. I’ve rounded up a few of my tips for creating the perfect kid bedroom. I hope you find these helpful!
- Bold Graphic Wallpaper – Incorporating a fun wallpaper print on an accent wall is always a good idea (best if behind the bed to ground the space). It doesn’t need to be permanent either! There are so many amazing removable wallpapers on the market that make it super easy to apply and remove.
- Statement Pendant – If the space allows for it, I always recommend one for above the bed. Either that, or sconces flanking the bed. It’s another opportunity to anchor the space and incorporate another textural element. I love using rattan or wooden beads, as featured in my design above. One thing to note – just make sure you’re selecting the right size for your space. If you have lower ceilings, you might want to opt for a unique flush mount – SchoolHouse has some nice options.
- Art – Layering a space with art is key. If you have the wall space, it’s always fun to create a gallery wall with playful artwork.
- Built-In’s – If you have an opportunity to create a built-in concept, do it! It’s a great way to store books and other knick knacks (in a stylish, way of course!).
