How to create a space with warm layers and oversized accents

I’m excited to share this next reveal from Fixer Upper’s most recent season! Chip & Joanna helped a young couple transform an 80’s style, traditional two story home, with a cool color palette, warm layers and oversized accents.

In this mood board, you’ll see some images from the reveal and others that embody the overall vision for the space. Pinterest is my best friend for finding examples of a style I’m trying to emulate. There is so much inspiration out there so it really is easy to achieve your desired style. When creating this type of space, you should make sure you’re including some of these elements below:

  1. Soft cool color palette with various shades of the same color.
  2. Traditional elements (i.e. similar pieces to the rug, table & chairs below).
  3. Simple textures – not as much mixing & matching to keep it minimal.

How to create a space with warm layers and oversized accents I decided to create my version of a dining room in this style. It’s simple with traditional elements and a cool color palette. My favorite piece is probably the rug. I love the tonal variation and how it grounds the whole room. I also think its great to break up the seating by adding a bench with the dining chairs. As always, I’ve linked each product so you can achieve aspects of this space in your own home. Stay tuned for the next post in this series and head here if you missed the last post.
