Tips on Creating Rustic Coastal Design in your Home

I thought it would be fun to recap each episode with my own take on their designs. First up is episode 3 where Chip & Joanna turn a small home into the perfect rustic, coastal retreat. Each post will feature a mood board, design concept and tips so you can achieve this look in your own home! When creating a rustic, coastal retreat, you should make sure you’re including some of these elements below:

  1. Neutral Color Palette
  2. Use of natural materials (i.e. rattan, sisal, etc.)
  3. Botanical art
  4. Greenery
  5. Exposed beams & shiplap

Doesn’t this living room look super cozy? I pulled elements from the mood board to execute the overall design theme. Focusing on a neutral palette, I pulled in a lot of warm tones, natural textures and of course, a cozy rug to tie it all together! Stay tuned for the next post in the series.
